With its roots dating back to 1919, Lazer is the oldest helmet company in the world. Based in Belgium, Lazer has stayed at the forefront of helmet technology with aggressive and innovative designs. Originally slated as a road helmet, the Genesis includes many features that transcends the road and has become the helmet of choice for countless cross-country racers—including those of the Luna Chix team.
The aggressively styled Genesis incorporates 19 vents to pull air in and over the head. Going beyond just adding more vents for cooling, Lazer did extensive research to insure that the placement of those 19 vents were optimal, resulting in improved ventilation and temperature regulation. To further regulate temperature Lazer equips the Genesis with X-STATIC® pads that are made with 99.9% pure silver and have natural temperature regulating properties, reflecting heat back for warmth and evaporating moisture faster for a cooling effect.
For protection, Lazer set out to create a strong, and safe helmet while giving the Genesis a low profile. It is constructed with dual-density EPS technology in which lighter and less dense foam is used in less critical areas, while heavier, denser foam is used in impact areas. The dual-density foam results in overall lower weight. Complementing the Genesis’s EPS structure is Lazer’s Rigidity Brace System that uses internal reinforcements for increased resistance against impacts.
A defining feature of the Genesis is something Lazar calls Rollsys®. The Rollsys® retention system allows for the fit of the helmet to be easily and quickly adjusted simply by turning the thumb wheel on the back top of the helmet, making it one of the most comfortable and best fitting helmets on the market. The Rollsys® system completely surrounds the head and is a fully integrated mechanism. What makes the system so innovative is that the symmetrical tightening around the head avoids pressure points. Additionally, the front of the system has air channels built into the retention belt and the padding is designed not to hinder airflow. The Rollsys® system also allows Lazer to fit a wider size range with only two sizes available.
The Genesis tips the scale at 290 grams and is available in a wide range of colors to match virtually any team kit. Color options include black, black/pink, red/black, black/white, white, white/blue, white/red, white/silver, white, sky blue and yellow/silver. The Genesis has several options including an insect net, insulated padding, visor and even a snap-on aeroshell that will block frigid wind on the winter rides.
